ASUPMATOMA is a non profit organization, that is trying to make people aware of the damage that pollution is causing to our world, and more specific to Los Cabos area.

Baja California Sur has experienced an extraordinary demographic growth, in relation to the rest of the country, due mainly to the boom of the tourists industry of Los Cabos area, based principally on foreign visitors. This is why it is so important to operate coordinated Integral Environmental Education Programs, at local, regional and state levels, to promote the participation and incorporation of the communities and the society in general towards the conservation of the sea turtles and the environment.

ASUPMATOMA is trying to impose to the Los Cabos community, to adopt one kilometer in the highway, and being responsible for keeping it clean, the idea is that not only big companies participate, but also every one that lives in this area; unfortunately the aluminium cans are the most tough contestants, because people seems to collect them to sell them later to a recycling companies, so people still throw away to highways and live them in the beach.



Did you know that seven of the eight species of sea turtles that exist around the world are found in México?, and all of them are considered ENDANGERED SPECIES? The Golfina, Laud and Carey are three species that came every year to nest their eggs in the Baja California Sur coasts. At their Ranch Punta San Cristobal, they already protect, more than 35,000 baby sea turtles in 5 years, The reserve protects more than 17 endangered species in natural conditions and many endemic species.

ASUPMATOMA counts with a Natural Reserve, that is situated past Km 108 just before San Cristobal bridge, they count with two sea turtle camps that offer bathrooms and showers with hot water, in one of the tours, you will have the opportunity to understand the world of the Marine Turtles, you will be able to talk with biologists who can answer any doubts about the importance of preservation of these endangered species. Afterwards, you can release a newly hatched baby turtle into the sea. The other tour is for people who like to participate in a very direct form whit the turtles, you can spent 24 hours with hands on participation in the work of the turtle campsite, you can also join the night patrols to tag adult turtles and protect the nests by collecting their eggs, and renesting them in a safe guarded place.

FLORA & FAUNA - Another incredible experience is to walk the natural trails where you can observe a large number of plants common to Los Cabos Desert like: Cardons, Pitahayas, Palo Fierro, Palo de la Flecha, you will have the opportunity to see these unusual flora and learn about their traditional use. The journey leads you from the canyon walls down through the arroyo, giving the opportunity to observe regional birds like: Various species of Hawk and Falcons, Road Runners, tiny Gnat Catchers, and a specie of Hummingbird which can only be observed in this zone, the Fronted Humming bird (Xantus), at almost the end of the trek, you will be able to observe from Frigatebirds, Pelicans, to other marine birds.

BAT CAMP - You will hear the true story of the bats filled with truth and myth belived to have brought them to the edge of extinction. Biologists share the experiences of the Bats that will capture your imagination and provide a better understanding about these outstanding creatures without whom the life of man would not be so pleasant. Aside from all this, you can sit around the campfire roasting marshmallows and hot dogs while observing heavenly constellations and listening to the crashing surf of the powerful Pacific Ocean.
